2003

The income raised at the 2003 festival topped $104,000 with a few checks still trickling in.  An additional $8300 was raised prior to the festival to offset expenses.  When the last bill is paid, we expect to send $100,000 to MCC to help those in need.

The top-selling item was a white and blue "Garden Twist" quilt with floral fabrics and intricate quilting.  It was created by the Zion Mennonite Church women in memory of Lilly Berkey, who loved flowers and MCC.  It sold for $4500.

"We tried several new things and they seemed to go over well," says festival chair Jerry Friesen.  "The car show was a hit; kids especially liked the Model A with its rumble seat."

"Recent world events make it an especially relevant time to remember refugees, as we did with our refugee tent and coin campaign," he continues.  "The generosity of those who took part in the festival makes a real difference in the lives of so many people.  On their behalf, we want to thank everyone who came.  We hope to see you next year.
