2001

The 18th annual Oregon Mennonite Festival for World Relief was held on October 13.  Sale day proceeds were estimated at $113,000. Approximately 6000 people attended the event.

119 quilts and related items sold for $52,430.  A beautiful quilt entitled "Friendship Garden", donated by the Lebanon Mennonite and New Hope Churches, sold for $4500.  Eleven other quilts sold for more than $1000 and ten items were donated back for resale.

"Threads of Joy", the third doll donated by local artisans Larry and Linda Bardell, was a top seller.  The hand-crafted grandmother who works peacefully on her quilting sold for $1500.

All auctions (silent, oral, children's and quilt) combined to raise $66,659.  Other proceeds were raised through food booths, Ten Thousand Villages, hand crafted items,  children's activities and donations.

Once again there was a push to fill school kits for children throughout the world.  The goal of 2000 kits was easily filled, and at the end of the day, volunteers loaded 2,048 on the truck headed for the west coast MCC distribution center in Reedley, California.

We count the day as a huge success and thank everyone who helped.
